Custom Bath Mats for Hotels and Retail: Microfibre, Backing, Print and Laundering
A hotel bath mat gets washed far more often than a home one, and a retail bath mat has to sell from a shelf. Here's how to specify custom bath mats for both: face material, backing, printing, edges and care.
A guest steps out of the shower onto the bath mat. In that moment the bath mat has two jobs: soak up the water and stay put on a wet tile floor. Everything else, the colour, the logo, the softness, comes second.
Custom bath mats for hotels and retail have to do those two jobs again and again. A hotel bath mat goes through a laundry cycle after every stay. A retail bath mat has to look good in a photo and survive years of home washing. This guide covers what to specify for both.
The short answer
For custom bath mats, specify a microfibre face for absorbency, a TPR backing for grip on wet floors, and bound edges for durability. Choose sublimation printing for designs on synthetic microfibre and inkjet printing for nylon. For hotels, confirm the bath mat is machine washable and dryable; for retail, plan sizes, designs and packaging as a range.
Face material: microfibre, cotton or memory foam
Microfibre is the main face material for our custom bath mats. Microfibre absorbs around seven times its own weight in water, it dries quickly, and the fade-resistant fibre can be machine washed and tumble dried repeatedly.
Cotton and memory foam are also available. Memory foam adds a cushioned feel, which suits retail ranges sold on comfort. For hotels, where bath mats are laundered constantly, microfibre's quick drying and wash resistance are usually the deciding factors.
Backing: why TPR matters on a wet floor
The backing decides whether a bath mat is safe. Our custom bath mats use a double-layer structure: a microfibre face on a TPR non-slip backing. The TPR backing grips smooth bathroom floors when they're wet, which is exactly when a guest is most likely to slip.
When you compare quotes, ask what the backing is and whether it is made to go through repeated washing and drying. A backing that stiffens or cracks after a few laundry cycles stops gripping.
Printing a logo or design on a bath mat
Custom bath mats can be printed with your own artwork. The print method follows the fibre: heat-sublimation printing is used on synthetic fibre such as microfibre, and inkjet printing is used on nylon.
For hotels, a small logo or monogram near one edge looks more premium than a full-surface print, and it stays visible when the bath mat is folded over the side of the bath. For retail, full-colour patterns and seasonal designs let a brand build a range from one construction. Either way, send vector artwork with Pantone references and confirm the layout on a free digital proof.
Edges and sizes
Edges are where cheap bath mats fail first. Double-layer bound edges hold the face and backing together through repeated washing and stop the edge from fraying or curling. Custom sizes and shapes are available, so a hotel can match the bath mat to its bathroom layout and a retailer can offer a set of sizes.
Hotels: plan for the laundry
Hotels should specify custom bath mats around the laundry, not the showroom. Three practical points help. First, choose one size and colour per room type so the laundry can sort and restock easily. Second, order enough bath mats to cover rooms, laundry and spares. Third, keep the logo small so the bath mat still looks right after many washes.

Retail: build a range, not a single bath mat
Retailers sell more bath mats when the range is planned. A core set of plain colours, a few printed designs and one cushioned option give customers a reason to choose rather than compare prices. Bath mats also sell outside the bathroom: at vanity areas, in front of kitchen sinks, in pet feeding areas, cloakrooms and nurseries. Mention those uses on the listing.

How to order
Send the size, quantity, face material, artwork and whether the bath mats are for a hotel or a retail range. Stock items typically ship in 7–15 days and custom orders in 20–30 days. See the bath mat range or send us your brief.
FAQ
What is the best material for a hotel bath mat? Microfibre, because microfibre absorbs around seven times its own weight in water, dries quickly and can be machine washed and dried repeatedly.
How do custom bath mats stay in place? A TPR non-slip backing grips smooth bathroom floors, including when the floor is wet.
Can you print a hotel logo on a bath mat? Yes. Heat-sublimation printing is used on microfibre and inkjet printing on nylon, and the layout is confirmed on a free digital proof.
Can custom bath mats be machine washed? Yes. The fade-resistant microfibre can be machine washed and tumble dried repeatedly.
