Custom Motorcycle Mats for Dealers, Clubs and Events: Choosing the Construction and Order Size
A custom motorcycle mat can be a one-off showroom centrepiece or three hundred square metres of club merchandise. The construction you pick decides the price, the minimum order and how long it looks good. Here's how to choose.
A dealer wants one mat under the new flagship model in the window. A riders' club wants a mat for every member's garage. A race team wants a set for the paddock that still looks sharp after a season of sun and fuel. All three are asking for a custom motorcycle mat, and all three should end up with different constructions.
This guide is for the people ordering on behalf of a business or a group: dealerships, accessory brands, clubs, race teams and event organisers.
The short answer
For a one-off or a few showroom mats, choose nylon on rubber: it's the premium construction and can be ordered from a single piece. For merchandise and club runs, nylon on TPR is the most popular balance of cost and finish, and polyester on PVC is the lowest-cost option; both start at 300 m². For workshops, a PVC mat (from 50 pieces) wipes clean.
Four constructions, four jobs
We make custom motorcycle mats in four constructions. The printed ones are all around 5mm thick; what changes is the surface, the backing and the minimum order.
- Nylon surface on rubber backing (minimum order: 1 piece). The premium choice. Heavy, lies flat, and the nylon takes a rich print. Right for showroom displays, flagship stores and a team's own paddock mat.
- 350 gsm nylon surface on TPR backing (minimum 300 m²). The most cost-effective and the most popular. A good finish at a sensible price, which is why it suits branded merchandise and club orders.
- 500 gsm polyester surface on PVC backing (minimum 300 m²). The most budget-friendly. Polyester takes high-resolution printing well, so it's a fit for promotional runs and giveaways where unit price matters most.
- PVC mat (minimum 50 pieces). Durable and easy to clean. Built for workshop floors where oil, fuel and cleaning chemicals are part of the day.
That spread of minimums is useful. A dealer testing a design can start with a single nylon-and-rubber mat, then move to a larger TPR run once the design is proven with customers.
Dealerships: the mat is part of the display
On a showroom floor, the mat frames the bike. It marks out the display footprint, keeps drips off polished floors and carries the dealership or model branding at the height a buyer's eye lands when they crouch to look at the engine.
Size it to the bike, not to a catalogue. Measure the wheelbase and the space you want around the bike for the side stand and for people to walk round it, then add a margin. For mixed displays, a few standard sizes (sport, touring, scooter) keep reorders simple. Our motorcycle floor mat size guide gives the method, and where to put a motorcycle pit mat covers placement in showrooms and workshops.
Using a manufacturer's logo? Get written approval first. Dealer agreements often control how a brand mark can be used.
Clubs, brands and merchandise runs
For a club or an accessory brand, the mat is a product. Members and customers buy it for their own garage, so the print and the price both have to work.
This is where the 300 m² constructions make sense. Work out the mat size first, then how many mats that area covers, and you'll know whether one design or several fit into the minimum. Ask for private-label packaging if the mats are going on sale, and decide early whether you want one universal size or a choice of two.
Race teams and events
A paddock mat spends weekends outdoors, in sun and rain, and gets packed and unpacked constantly. Nylon-and-rubber or nylon-and-TPR constructions on UV-stable, fade-resistant materials hold their colour, and the backing keeps the mat in place when the bike goes up on a stand. Our article on what makes a motorcycle pit mat resistant to oil and grease explains how the surface and backing deal with spills.
For event stands, think about handling as much as looks. Mats that roll up for transport and lay flat again quickly save set-up time at every show.
Artwork that works on a motorcycle mat
Motorcycle mats tend to carry bold graphics: racing stripes, numbers, large logos. That's good, because bold designs print best. Send vector artwork with Pantone references, keep logos and text away from the edges, and remember the bike will cover the middle of the mat. Put the logo where it stays visible with the bike parked: usually at the front, the rear, or both ends.
We confirm the layout with a free digital proof before production. Stock items typically ship in 7–15 days and custom orders in 20–30 days.
