Floor Mats for Furniture Showrooms: Rug Pads, Display Rugs, Delivery Routes and the Sales Desk
A furniture showroom uses mats to protect its own floors and sells them to customers at the till. Here's which rug pads, display rugs, carpet protectors, entrance mats and counter mats furniture showrooms use, and which ones sell as add-ons.

Thursday afternoon at an out-of-town furniture showroom. A couple tests three sofas in a row, each one staged on its own rug. At the back, two drivers wheel a dining table out through the warehouse door on a trolley. At the design desk, a sales adviser lays fabric swatches out next to a floor plan.
Every one of those scenes involves a mat. This guide is for furniture retailers, showroom managers and the merchandising teams that set up room displays. It covers the rug pads, display rugs and floor protection a furniture showroom uses, and the mats it can sell.
The short answer
Furniture showrooms use rug pads under every display rug, printed area rugs to dress room sets, clear PVC carpet protectors on delivery routes, a logo entrance mat at the door and a printed counter mat at the sales or design desk. Many also sell rug pads, cut to size, as an add-on with every rug.
Rug pads under every display rug
A display rug on a polished showroom floor gets walked on, pulled straight, sat on and pushed by sofa legs all day. Without a pad, it creeps and its corners curl, and the floor underneath takes the wear.
There are two pad types, and a showroom usually needs both. A double-sided grip rug pad is thin, stops a rug sliding on hard floors and can be trimmed to size, so it suits runners, entrance rugs and tight room sets. A felt and natural rubber cushion pad adds noticeable cushioning underfoot and grips without adhesives, so it suits large rugs in living-room and bedroom displays, where customers stand and judge how the room feels. Our guide to felt and rubber versus grip rug pads compares them in more detail.
Rug pads as an add-on sale
A customer who has just bought a rug needs a pad, and most don't think of it until they get home. Selling the pad at the same time is easy margin, and it means the rug stays where the customer put it.
Rug pads are made in custom sizes with private-label packaging, so a furniture group can sell pads under its own brand, sized to match the rugs on the floor. Keep the range simple: a grip pad for hard floors and a cushion pad for comfort, in the sizes your best-selling rugs come in.
Display rugs that match the room set
Room sets change with every new collection, and the rug has to match the sofa fabric. A custom printed cut-pile nylon area rug is printed in full colour to your artwork, from geometric patterns to Persian-style designs, on an anti-slip rubber backing. Common sizes are 3x5′, 4x6′ and 5x7′, and custom sizes and shapes are made to order. Every design is confirmed on a free digital proof before production.
A display bay is a fixed size, so a catalogue rug size often leaves it looking half-dressed. Our guide to measuring for custom rugs shows how to size a rug to the space.
Delivery routes and the warehouse door
Furniture moves through a showroom every day: new stock in, sold pieces out, displays rearranged. A clear PVC carpet protector runner laid along the route from the warehouse door to the displays protects carpeted areas from trolley wheels. It is cut to the length and width of the route, with a studded base for carpet or a smooth base for hard floors, and because it is clear, customers still see the floor.
At the entrance and the sales desk
The entrance mat is the first thing a customer walks on, so it should look as good as the furniture. A printed nylon logo mat in MC-2450 (450 g/m² nylon on 2000gsm rubber, 5mm, up to 12 colours) starts from one piece, so a single showroom can order one mat in its own size. For an exposed door with heavy traffic, MC-2200 (700 g/m², 7mm) holds more dirt and water.
At the design desk, a printed branded counter mat puts your brand or the season's collection on a smooth PVC top over an anti-slip foam rubber base, in 12″×24″, 18″×36″ or 24″×48″. On a desk where advisers work at a computer, the same mat doubles as an oversized branded mouse pad.
How to order

For a private-label rug pad range, add the rug sizes you sell and your packaging requirements. Stock items typically ship in 7–15 days and custom orders in 20–30 days, plus shipping; MOQ is confirmed in the quote. See the rug pad range or send us your showroom plan.
